About Russ Whitney

Russ Whitney, Millionaire, best-selling author and CEO of Whitney Information Network, Inc. is a hard-driving, intense achiever and leader who never slows his tireless pace.

From running a multi-million dollar educational company to spending time with his family, Russ Whitney is the picture and embodiment of success of the American Dream. But it wasn't always like it is now.

As a teenager, people who knew Russ Whitney viewed him as nothing more than another high school dropout, street-wise, but headed nowhere. By the age of 20, Russ found himself trying to support his wife and child while employed by the Tobin Meat Packing slaughterhouse in Albany, New York for $5 an hour.

Consumed by the desire to give his family a better life, Russ began researching techniques intended to build wealth.

"I started answering ads for money-making opportunities. Some of them were pure junk, some required capital I didn't have and some just didn't suit me. But then I ordered a book that had a couple of ideas that made sense. I finally found something that I could do that didn't require a lot of money to start, and in 3 weeks, I made $11,000."

The Psychology of Poverty
Russ realized that wasting this money went against the principles of his new wealth-building strategy. So, he and his family celebrated his initial financial success with a commitment to use that money to make more money. He quickly invested it in another money-making vehicle.

A little over a year later, at the age of 22, he had racked up $117,000 in profits.

"Initially, I was afraid to quit my job, because the fact that I had actually achieved financial independence seemed too good to be real. I had been poor all my life, and everyone I knew was poor, so at first it was hard to believe I'd broken out of the mold."

Whitney's first wealth-building venture had involved real estate. Although he purchased rundown residential properties and repaired them, he went beyond the typical "buy low and sell high" strategy to purchase properties that were only cosmetically distressed, and would generate a positive cash flow while he increased their value, as well as his own net worth by employing a variety of creative techniques. This experience led him into related businesses such as property maintenance and management, and real estate consulting.

At the age of 25, Russ Whitney decided to move his family to Cape Coral, Florida. In 18 months, with only a thousand borrowed dollars, Whitney streamlined his techniques and amassed a fortune of $4.7 million in real estate.

Upon reaching his goal to be a millionaire, Whitney published Overcoming the Hurdles & Pitfalls of Real Estate Investing, detailing how he made his fortune." There were plenty of books on how to make money, but none of them were really complete," he says. "They either assumed you knew things most people don't, the ideas required a lot of cash, or they left out important details. I decided to tell people exactly what I did (right or wrong) and how they could do the same thing, but avoid the mistakes I made."

Later, Whitney wrote Building Wealth, which, when it was re-released as a soft-cover book achieved #2 on Amazon.com's best-seller list in 1999. His next book, Millionaire Real Estate Mentor (Dearborn Publishing, 2003) reached #2 on Amazon.com and made the bestseller lists in both Business Week and The Wall Street Journal. His most recent book, Millionaire Real Estate Mindset was the powerful follow-up. In this book, you'll learn how to capitalize on your most valuable asset...Your Mind!

Building Wealth by Sharing Wealth
So, why would this multi-millionaire want to spend his time educating others on wealth-building strategies?

"It's the classic concept of casting your bread upon the waters: What you put out will come back to you many times over. You can't put a price tag on the personal satisfaction that comes from watching someone who has been struggling from week to week, take one or two of my ideas and achieve financial security, and then go on to build their own personal fortune."

Realizing the tremendous need for quality training material on the various aspects of wealth building, Russ developed a complete educational system to help people learn his methods - and put them into practice. With a significant percentage of Whitney's students being lawyers, doctors, business owners and other professionals who had grown weary of working 70 to 80 hours a week to maintain a standard of living, Whitney learned the value of his wealth-building strategies.

"Most of the people I talked to had college degrees, but they didn't know the fundamentals of wealth building. Colleges and universities teach you math and science, but they don't teach you how to make money, nor do they teach you how to protect your money. Most importantly, they don't teach you how to keep it and make it grow."

To reach a broader number of people, Russ Whitney developed a series of workshops, conferences, and other educational programs designed to provide the information and tools necessary for anyone to achieve financial independence and security.

Russ Whitney's curriculum consolidates what he has learned by trial and error over the past 25 years. However, these courses are not for everyone.

"It takes a certain person; just wanting to become rich isn't enough. You have to be ready to understand why you haven't gotten rich yet and be willing to do something about it. The trainings have helped me build a network of friends, financiers, and other business contacts all over the world. I have business partners from coast to coast, in virtually every state and in several foreign countries. My students become part of my network and get the benefits of the relationships I have worked to develop over the years. I'm always learning something new, and then passing that information on to my students so we all benefit."

The element that makes Whitney stand out among most educators is that he practices what he preaches. "I have successfully done everything I teach - not just once, but over and over again," he says. "That's why I know my techniques are effective and just about anyone can use them to make money. In fact, I make significantly more from actually doing what I teach other people to do."
